Soup Run volunteers help to provide food for homeless
people and spend time chatting with them and Colchester Nightstop volunteers are
involved in helping to provide temporary accommodation for young homeless
people.
As part of a team of Colchester Churches, St Margarets Church
members provide soup & sandwiches for homeless people in the Colchester town centre.
We have two Church teams who take it in turns to go out on the third Sunday evening
of the month.
Others help by donating tins at harvest
and making sandwiches etc.

Colchester Korban Project
Together with other organisations and Colchester
Churches, members of St Margarets hope to help provide a network of hosts
offering temporary accommodation for young homeless people. They have
established links with other major and local organisations involved to help
each other towards providing more long term solutions.
A Korban host provides:
a bed for the night
a meal
a friendly listening ear
an opportunity for a bath
an opportunity to wash clothes
It keeps them off the streets and keeps them in a
safe friendly environment. Young people become homeless for a number of reasons.
