The Aisle is the name of the passageway from the entrance to the front of the Church.

During a wedding the Bride walks down the aisle and  stands next to the Groom in front of the table.

Looking down the Aisle the cross is clearly visible over the table.

At a baptism the font is placed on the top step at the front of the aisle.

At a funeral service the coffin is placed on a stand at the front of the aisle.

After the wedding service, the Bride and Groom  leave by walking down the aisle as a married couple.
