Christmas is a season to remember when Jesus was born as a baby in
Bethlehem.
Christians see
his coming as being like a light in a dark world. We celebrate the birth of Jesus with lights on the tree and
the lights of candles.
Lighted
candles are given to everyone at the Christmas eve services.
In the weeks leading up to Christmas, the
children act out the events of the first Christmas and
there is a special candlelit evening service of readings and songs.
Candles, banners, the crib and the tree
are set up ready for the Christmas services. Church members
will invite friends and neighbours and pray that the story of the birth of baby Jesus will
not be forgotten in the commercialisation of Christmas.
At Midnight on Christmas eve we herald the day of his birth
with carols
and communion in the candlelight. There is also a special family service on
Christmas morning.
