Palm Sunday commemorates the time when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on a donkey and the
people waved palm branches and cheered him as the coming King.
Members of
Orchard Baptist and St Margarets Church
join in a procession along the streets of the parish
and then hold a joint family service together. We want to witness that we
are still following Jesus as our King and invite people to join us. Many adults and children watch from their windows and wave as the procession passes.
The music and songs echo the words shouted on that first Palm Sunday.
"Praise God,
Bless the one who comes in the name of the Lord!
Hail to the King of Israel!"
Palm Crosses are given out at
the service to remind us that this event leads up to Easter.
