Lectern


The Lectern is where people stand to speak to the congregation.

Pulpit

So that everyone can hear and see the speaker stands at the lectern.

The lectern or reading desk:

bullet

  is at the front,

bullet

  is raised slightly off the ground,

bullet

  has a sloping top for books,

bullet

  has a microphone.

The Bible on the lectern has large print so that the reader can see it easily.

The  sermon (teaching or talk) is often given by the vicar or other church leader standing at the lectern.

People also come to the front and stand at the lectern to:

  say prayers,

bullet

  read the Bible out loud,

bullet

  say what God has done for them,

bullet

  share an encouraging message,

bullet

  give out notices.
