Gill, the lay reader, preaching the sermon.
|
The sermon is a talk, usually based on a reading from the Bible, which helps people to
know what God wants them to do in their lives. The talk
usually lasts about 20 minutes. Sometimes words and pictures are displayed
in a multi media presentation or other visual aids used.
The sermon is often preached from the lectern in our
Church. Sometimes though, especially at family services, the preacher or
teacher move in front of the table and speak from a portable lectern.
Various people can give this talk. Usually it will be
the Vicar but a lay reader or visiting clergy, representatives from
Christian organisations or other appointed Church members also give this
talk.
